What is included in a Serenity Movers office move?

Every office move is planned around one goal: zero lost business days. Your flat-rate quote covers everything below.

  • Pre-move planning consultation: We walk your current office and new space with your office manager to map out furniture placement, IT equipment protocols, and access logistics before move day.
  • After-hours and weekend scheduling: Most NYC office moves happen on Friday nights, Saturdays, or Sundays to eliminate weekday downtime. We staff for all of these.
  • Workstation disassembly and reassembly: Desks, chairs, filing systems, shelving, and modular workstations are taken apart and rebuilt in the new layout.
  • IT equipment handling: Monitors, desktop computers, servers, and AV equipment are wrapped, crated, and transported with care. We do not disconnect or reconnect network equipment — that stays with your IT team.
  • File and archive handling: Filing cabinets are moved intact where possible. Loose archive boxes are labeled and staged by department.
  • Certificate of Insurance: Provided free, tailored to both your origin and destination buildings’ requirements.

How to plan a zero-downtime NYC office move

  • Book 4–6 weeks ahead: Office moves require coordination with two buildings’ freight elevator schedules, building management at both ends, and your IT team. More lead time means fewer constraints on date selection.
  • Choose Friday night or Saturday: The overwhelming majority of NYC office moves execute on Friday evening through Saturday. Staff leave Friday, movers work overnight or Saturday, staff arrive Monday to a fully set up new office.
  • Create a floor plan for the new space: The single most time-saving thing you can do is provide a labeled floor plan showing where each desk and department goes. We stage everything in position so no one is playing furniture Tetris on Monday morning.
  • Label everything before move day: Label every monitor, keyboard, phone, and desktop with the employee name or station number. Your IT team will thank you.

Frequently asked questions about office moves in NYC

Can you move our office over a weekend so we don’t lose business days?

Yes — weekend and overnight moves are our standard approach for office relocations. Most NYC commercial buildings permit freight elevator access on weekends with advance scheduling. We confirm elevator availability at both your origin and destination buildings when you book, and build the move schedule around those windows.

Do you move server rooms and IT equipment?

We move the physical equipment — servers, UPS units, rack hardware, monitors, and cables — with appropriate padding and handling. We do not disconnect, reconnect, or configure network and server equipment. Your IT team handles the technical setup; we handle the physical move. For server rooms, we recommend having your IT team manage the disconnect and reconnect, with our crew doing all the carrying and transport in between.

What COI does a commercial building require for an office move?

NYC commercial buildings typically require a COI with higher liability minimums than residential buildings — commonly $2M–$5M general liability, plus commercial auto and workers’ compensation. Many also require the building owner and management company as additional insured. Serenity Movers’ commercial COI meets the requirements of NYC’s major commercial landlords. We provide it free with every office move and submit it to both buildings.

Can you handle a multi-floor or multi-location office move?

Yes. Multi-floor moves are planned as phased operations — typically one floor per elevator window, with crew staged at each level. Multi-location consolidations (e.g., merging two offices into one) are planned with a detailed logistics schedule that we develop with your office manager in advance. Are our office contents insured during the move?

Yes. Serenity Movers carries $5M liability coverage. For high-value office equipment, we recommend full value protection rather than released value.
