How far in advance should you book Manhattan movers?
Manhattan’s compressed rental market makes timing critical. Here’s what to expect by season:

Are my belongings insured during a Manhattan move?
Yes. Serenity Movers carries $5M liability coverage and every move is protected. There are two main coverage types:
- Released value protection — Pays $0.60 per lb per item (federal minimum). Included free with every move.
- Full value protection — Covers repair, replacement, or cash settlement at current market value. Available for an additional premium through a third party insurance Co. .

How do you handle service elevator reservations?
We coordinate service elevator reservations directly with your building management — you don’t need to do anything. Just provide your building’s management contact when you book and we take it from there. We book elevator windows at both your origin and destination buildings. Our no-overbooking policy means your reserved crew is never pulled to another job.
What about parking in Manhattan?
Parking in Manhattan is our problem, not yours. You will never be asked to stand by the truck or reserve a spot. If a parking ticket is issued during your move, it’s on us — not you. Our teams are experienced with Manhattan’s parking regulations across all neighborhoods, from FiDi loading docks to UES residential blocks.
Do you charge extra for walk-up apartments in Manhattan?
Walk-ups above the first floor may carry a small additional fee depending on the number of flights and volume of items — typically $50–$75 per flight above the ground floor. This is always disclosed in your quote upfront, never added as a surprise charge on move day.
Can you move me on short notice in Manhattan?

Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Our crews handle standard furniture disassembly and reassembly as part of the move — bed frames, desks, wardrobe systems, dining tables, and similar items. This is included in your flat-rate quote. For complex or specialty items (Murphy beds, custom built-ins, oversized sectionals), let us know when you book. What items won’t you move in Manhattan?
As required by DOT regulations, movers cannot transport the following:
- Hazardous materials: propane tanks, paint, chemicals, gasoline, ammunition
- Perishables: open food, plants (long-distance moves), live animals
- Irreplaceable valuables: cash, jewelry, and important documents — we recommend carrying these yourself
